St John's Primary School is a Catholic maintained school, owned by the Trustees and maintained jointly by them and the Western Education & Library Board.  It admits boys and girls aged from 4 to 11.  The school seeks to promote a friendly, caring atmosphere and parents are always welcome to visit the school.

The school was founded in 1975 and has 7 classrooms, divided into three sections, each with its own working space, toilets and cloakroom area.  There is a hall/dining room which is used for physical education, music, assemblies, concerts and other school functions.  Meals are presently cooked in Dungiven Central Kitchen and transported to the school.  The Governors and staff, with the support of the parents, are always working to improve and develop the environment and security of the school.
