THE RESPIRATORY SYSTEM
The respiratory system is another name for the breathing system.
When we breathe in (inhale) oxygen it goes into our lungs. We need
oxygen to keep us alive. When we breathe out we (exhale) carbon
dioxide comes out of our lungs. When we do exercise we need to
breathe more to take in more oxygen. We need this extra oxygen
because our muscles are working harder and are using more energy.
Our heart beats faster in order to get the oxygen, via the blood to all
parts of the body that needs it.
