Victorians Rich and Poor:

Victorians were some times poor, but lots were filthy rich! The nobles,
royals and business owners were the rich ones. Poor people were forced
to live on the streets and live of scraps. During Queen
Victoria's time as queen lots of rules were introduced. For instance poor
children were sent to school.
Although they weren't in a good condition the could get education.

Housing for the rich:
they lived in cities like
London mostly. They had
stained windows, lots of
rooms
like a drawing room, daytime
nursery and a dinning room!
The poor were hired as
servants so they could
Get money for food and
means of heat.

Housing for the poor:
In industrial cities, a
rising population meant
many of the poorly built
tentements,
were overcrowded, filthy
and located next to smelly
factories. Countryside
workers often bore a little
better. Although their
roofs let the rain in!

Middle class
professionals

such as doctor and
lawyers lived in smaller
houses. Although they
would have
Employed servants
aswell. Usually girls
around the age of
twelve. They lived in the
suburbs outside cities.


Past times for the
rich
: The problem in
Victorian times was
how they filled there
day. Wealthy men
might have had a seat
in parliament but
often lived of rent
from their houses.
Women just played
piano or visited other
riches!
Past times for the poor: The poor had very little spare
time, or money. In fact children worked from a very young age!
For many people, their source of entertainment was at public
houses. They enjoyed going to Epping when the 'bank holiday'
