Queen Victoria
Queen Victoria was born in Kensington Palace, London, on 24th
May 1819. Soon after she was born her father died. She became
queen at the age of 18 when William IV died.

She married Prince Albert in 1840. He taught her much about
how to be a ruler in a 'constitutional monarchy.' She had nine
children between 1840 and 1857. Most of them married into other
Royal families of Europe.

Victoria bought Osbourne House on the Isle of Wight, as a family
home, in 1845 and Albert bought Balmoral in 1852.

Queen Victoria was very depressed when her husband died in 1881
at the age of 42. For the rest of her reign she wore black.

Victoria died in Osborne House, on the Isle of Wight, on 22nd
January 1901 after reigning for almost 64 years, the longest time
in British history. She was buried at Windsor beside Prince
Albert,
in the Frog more Royal Museum. Above the door are
Victoria's last words' farewell best loved, here at last I shall rest
with thee, in Christ, I shall rise again.
