The Circulatory System
The heart is protected by the ribcage.
The heart is a very important part of
the human anatomy. Your heart pumps
blood around your body to deliver oxygen
and food to all the parts of the body.
Your heart has lots of valves to ensure
that your blood keeps going the right
way. In the big Arteries the blood can
travel at one metre every 2 sec and in
the small Capillaries it can only travel one
metre every half an hour. You have
about five litres of blood in the body and
every minute your kidneys filter one litre
of the stuff.
