Different types of teeth
Incisors: front teeth for cutting food. You use
them to bite into food.

Canines: pointed side teeth for gripping and
tearing food. They are long and sharp.

Molars: back teeth for crushing and grinding
food. they are used to break food down into
very small pieces so we can swallow it.
Did you know?
Humans have two sets of teeth.
The first set is called milk
teeth, which come through from
about six months old. These are
replaced by permanent teeth,
which come through about five
years old.

This will help.... Canine means 'to do
with dogs'. Your canine teeth are your
'fangs', which are used for ripping
meat!
Looking after your teeth
The food we eat can
damage our teeth. Sugar
left in the mouth is eaten
by bacteria. This forms
plaque, which rots away
the enamel on the tooth
and creates a hole.
