Stair na Scoile
School History

Bunaíodh Gaelscoil Éadain Mhóir i 1998 le seisear páistí. Ag an am sin bhí sí lonnaithe ar an
Chreagán in aice le Club Peile Sheáin Uí Dhúláin. D'fhan an scoil ar an suíomh seo go dtí 2001
nuair a bhog sí chun na Gáslainne. Bronnadh aitheantas oifigiúil ar an scoil ag an Roinn Oideachais
sa bhliain chéanna. Ó bunaíodh í tá an scoil ag dul ó neart go neart. I láthair na huaire tá
beagnach 130 páiste ag an Ghaelscoil, 26 ag an Naíscoil (a fuair Aitheantas Reachtúil ón Roinn
Oideachais i mbliana) agus 12 pháiste ag Tús Cinnte do pháistí 2 bhliain d'aois.

Gaelscoil Éadain Mhóir first opened its doors in 1998 with 6 children. At the time it was situated in
Creggan adjacent to Seán Dolan's GFC. The school remained on this site until 2001 when it moved to its
current site at the Gasyard. The Department of Education granted the school official recognition in this
year. Since its inception Gaelscoil Éadain Mhóir has continued to go from strength to strength. Currently
we have almost 130 children attending the Gaelscoil, 26 attending the Naíscoil (which was this year
granted Statutory Recognition by the Department of Education and is now fully funded) and 12 children at
our afternoon Sure Start programme for 2 year olds
