Admissions Criteria for Primary 1 Pupils
In the event of over-subscription criteria will be applied in the order set down (1-2) by the Board of Govenors of St. Patrick's Primary
School, Pennyburn, in selecting children for admission to Year 1 in September. Priority will be given, in th application criterion, to pupils
regarded by the Board of Govenors, on the basis of supporting evidence from paretns and/or statutory agencies, as having special
circumstances, (i.e. medical, social, security) requiring admission to this school rather than any other school. Priority shall be given to
children resident in Northern Ireland.


1 Children of compulsory school age who normally reside in the Parish of the Three Patrons (St. Patrick's, St. Brigid's and St. Joseph's)

2 Children of compulsory school age from other areas.

In the event of over subscription in any one of the criteria, taken in order, the following sub-criteria will be applied in order set down. If
over-subscribed in any one of the sub-criteria taken in order, final selection will be on the basis or rank order of age, i.e. the oldest child
first.

A Children who have brothers/sisters, half-brothers/sisters presently enrolled in the school.

B Children whose parent/guardian, brother/sister, half-brother/sister are prior pupils of the school.

C Children whose parent/guardian is presently a permanent member of staff of the school teaching/ancillary/auxillary staff.

D Children who are the oldest in their family. (This should be verified in writing by the administrators of Child Benefit)

E Other pupils.

The Board of Govenors has delegated to an Admissions sub-Committee, which includes the Principal, the task of applying the criteria.

Applicants from Year 1 to 7 should note that they may be required to produce documents verifying their address. All
applications shouls be accompanied by the full version of the child's birth certificate.
Year 1 Admissions - After the beginning of the school year
Children who apply to enter the school during the academic year will be considered using the same criteria as for Year 1.


Admission Criteria - Years 2 to 7
The Board of Govenors has determined that the following admissions will be applied, in the order set down, to any applicant seeking
admission to Years 2 to 7.

Pupils will be considered for enrolmet provided that:

1 the school would not exceed its enrolment number: and

2 in the opinion of the Board of Govenors their admission would not prejudice the efficient use of the school's resources.

If there are more applicants for any of the above criteria than places available then the following sub-criteria will be
applied in the order set down.

A
Children who have brothers/sisters, half-brothers/sisters presently enrolled in the school.

B Children whose parent/guardian, brother/sister, half-brother/sister are prior pupils of the school.

C Children whose parent/guardian is presently a permanent member of staff of the school teaching/ancillary/auxillary staff.

D Other pupils.

E Priority will be given to applicants fro entry to Year 2, then to Year 3 applicants and to other years in succession.

In the event of over subscription in any one of the above sub- criteria selection for the available spaces will be on the basis or rank order
of age, i.e. the oldest child first.

The Board of Govenors has delegated to the Principal, subject to their final approval, the role of applying these criteria.
