Osclaíodh Bunscoil Naomh Colm Cille i Mí Mheán an Fhómhair 2003. Roghnaigh ar ochtar tuismitheoirí lena bpáistí a chur chuig an scoil le bheith teagasctha trí mheán na Gaeilge. Leanann na páistí Curclam Thuaisceart na hÉireann agus foghlaimíonn siad Litearacht, Mata, Eolaíocht agus Teicneolaíocht, Tíreolaíocht, Stair, Ceol, Ealaíon, Corp Oideachais, agus Teagasc Críostaí trí mheán na Gaeilge. Déanann an t-Aonad Gaelach iarracht le hatmaisféar bríomhar sóna taitneamhach a chruthú agus áit a mothaoídh na páistí luachmhar agus slán. Déanfaidh muid iarracht le hobair leis na tuismitheoirí le bheith cinnte go mothaíonn na páistí a fhreastlaíonn ar an aonad Gaelach sásta. Spreagtar na páistí uilig trí mholadh agus trí shampla lena n-achmhainní iomlána a bhaint amach. Mothaímid gur páiste sainiúil gach páiste neamhaireach ar gné, cine, cultúr, reiligiún agus riachtannais spéisialta. Is é barúil againn má thugaimid meas do na páistí mar pháistí sainiúla beidh méadú ar féinmhuiníneach agus féinmeas na bpáistí. Bunscoil Naomh Colm Cille, the Irish Medium Unit of St. Columbkille's Primary School, opened in September 2003 with 8 parents deciding to send their children to be taught through the medium of Irish. The children follow the Northern Ireland Curriculum and are taught Literacy, Maths, Science and Technology, History, Geography, Music, Art, P.E and Religion through the medium of Irish. Our Irish Medium Unit endeavours to create a happy, lively, pleasant atmosphere where children will feel valued and secure. We aim to work alongside parents to ensure that the children who attend the Bunscoil are happy. All children in our care are consistently encouraged through our example, praise and expectations of them to reach their maximum potential. We believe each child is unique and will be treated as an individual regardless of gender, race, culture, religion and special needs. It is our belief that valuing each child as an individual will enhance their self-esteem and make it easier for them to form relationships and friendships. It is our hope that the skills and attitudes fostered in our Irish Medium Unit will provide each child with a firm foundation for life-long learning.
