The aim of the Northern Ireland Curriculum is "to empower young people to develop their potential and to make informed and responsible choices and decisions throughout their lives." The emphasis is on the development of skills and capabilities for lifelong learning and for operating effectively in society. Children can achieve this through engagement in active learning. From September 2009, the Revised Curriculum will be implemented throughout the School, from Primary One right through to Primary Seven.
