Activities
The school provides a range of activities that enhance the learning and teaching experiences within
the school. The school prides itself in providing these exciting opportunities for our pupils.
Performances
The school has annual
performances with children
presenting stories in music,
song and dance. All children
are involved in the
presentations. Many of the
performances are staged in the
local hall.
Crafts
The handing on of skills in craft
work is a major feature in the life of
the school. Grandparents have
provided workshops in knitting,
sewing, baking, rugmaking, and
glass painting. Children are proud
of the attractive finished products.

Interest in the local
environment is promoted
within the school grounds.
Bird monitors feed the birds
regularly and gardening
within the school grounds is
encouraged and promoted.
Educational Visits
Educational visits are arranged
annually to compliment the
curriculum within the school.
Visits have been made to the
Fire station, Gortatole, The
Ulster American Folk Park,
The Peatlands Park, The Roe
Valley Country Park
Environment
Gaelic
Gaelic coaching is available
forP.5-P.7 children on aweekly
basis. A qualified coach from
Tyrone GAA provides training to
develop skills in Gaelic. Boys and
girls participate in competitive
Gaelic games in the summer term.
Foyle Youth Sport
The school avails of expert
coaching through Foyle Youth
Sport. Activities vary from year to
year but include basketball,
gymnastics, Fit Kitz etc
Cycling Proficiency
Children in P.7 receive training in the
fundamental road safety cycling skills.
They undergo training and receive a
certificate of competence in cycling
proficiency. This takes place in the
summer term.
Music
The teaching of music features
prominently in the school. the
children are taught recorder.
Expert music tuition has been
provided in singing by the
W.E.L.B. Music service. The
children represent the school in
Liturgical Services in the school
and in the local Church.
